Since 2012 Mr. Lamani has served as a UN Official at the United Nations. Prior to his current role he was Head of the UN OJSR in Damascus, Syria.

From 1980 to 2007 Mr. Lamani held many positions at the League of Arab States, including director, liaison to the United Nations, coordinator of Euro-Dialogue and of the Afro-Arab Cooperation, among other titles.

Mr. Lamani has lectured at many universities internationally on the topic of political science and international relations, particularly in regards to Arab related issues. He has also served as a fellow at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and at the Centre for International Governance Innovation in Waterloo, Canada.

Mr. Lamani received his Degree in Political Sciences at University Mohamed V in Casablanca, Morocco in 1974. Following that he received his Bachelor of Arts in International Law from University Hassan II in Casablanca, Morocco in 1977. Mr. Lamani received his Masters in European Studies at the Université Catholique de Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium in 1987.

Mr. Lamani has published several articles, books and lectures over his career on the subjects of the Iraq crisis, Iraqi issues, the crisis in Syria and Euro-Arab relations. Mr. Lamani is a member of the Board of Directors at the Education for Employment Foundation in Washington, DC, a trustee of the Different Future in the Middle East Foundation at Yale University, and a member of the Assembly of Parliament of Cultures at Bilkent University in Turkey.
