Sheikh Jamal al-Dhari and Cardinal Koch discuss crisis in Iraq

Sheikh Jamal al-Dhari, President of Peace Ambassadors for Iraq (PAFI), met with His Eminence Cardinal Kurt Koch in Erbil, Iraq last week to provide an update on the current state of affairs in Iraq. Cardinal Koch was in Erbil to attend the consecration ceremony of the new Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, His Holiness Mar Gewargis III on 27 September 2015.

Both sides agreed that meaningful solutions to the crisis in Iraq must be founded on the principles of justice and dignity for all Iraqis, regardless of religious denomination or ethnicity.

Al-Dhari noted that profound steps must be taken by the Iraqi people and government in order to achieve a long-lasting peace.

Cardinal Koch, who is the Bishop Emeritus of Basel, Switzerland, and serves as President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity offered his support for Iraq and its people.
